(Dunya News) – Where taboos exist in the society regarding women behind wheels, Nida – a resident of Rasheedabad neighbourhood in Karachi – has defied all social stereotypes to become her family’s breadwinner.

The teenage girl, who drives a rickshaw, says she had no support from anyone except her father – the reason behind her confidence.

According to Nida, people didn’t take her seriously when she offered to help out her father with the finances of the family. Her immediate family and her mother were against her driving a rickshaw. But supported by her father, she was motivated to drive.

“There is no one like my father in this world. He’s a great supportive father,” said Nida.

Nida’s father said that she is like her son who has taken a huge responsibility at such a young age of helping out with the household finances.

“I am proud of her and her abilities,” he said.

Nida can not only drive a rickshaw but with the help of her father she can also drive heavy vehicles, like trucks.

Despite facing so many hardships, Nida has remained steadfast and determined to keep on driving and be the support for her father.
