Islamabad: Door-to-door tree plantation campaign kicks off

(Dunya News) – For the first time citizens of Islamabad are being engaged in a plantation campaign through a door-to-door service by the Capital Development Authority.

As part of the Green Islamabad campaign, CDA has provided citizens as many as 30, 000 plants through a door-to-door service. The first phase of the campaign will target different sectors of the city as well as nearby rural areas where citizens are bring given plants at their doorstep by CDA officials.

Following this first phase of the plantation campaign, the authority plans to plant 500, 000 new trees in the Margalla Hills during the next phase.

According to CDA officials, the campaign is aimed at reaching out to the masses and to generate awareness about making Islamabad green and beautiful.

The campaign has been received well by the people of the capital with some demanding that besides plantation campaigns, the authorities must take measures to ensure that unnecessary tree felling is avoided.
