Summary A meeting between Nawaz Sharif and PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi took place in Lahore.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi convened a meeting with former head of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday and deliberated over forthcoming appointment of a Senate chairman.

A meeting between the two leaders took place in Lahore after the premier reached Nawaz’s Jati Umra residence using a helicopter from Lahore’s old aiport.

The meeting was attended by Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz. Agenda of the meeting was forthcoming election of a chairman in Senate and current political situation in Pakistan.

On the occasion, Nawaz Sharif congratulated the premier on PML-N’s convincing victory in Senate elections held on March 3.

As per decisions taken in the meeting, PML-N’s Mushahidullah Khan approached Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQMP) Bahadurabad faction and sought support to elect a chairman of the Senate belonging to the ruling party.

Earlier on March 3, PML-N won majority of 52 seats in Senate with party s candidates contesting as independent candidates as top court had annulled Nawaz Sharif s decisions taken as party s head.
