Summary Chief Justice summoned ten-year tax record of former MD PTV Attaullah Haq Qasmi

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court on Monday summoned the detailed report regarding investigation report of the appointment of former PTV managing direction (MD) Attaullah Haq Qasmi.

While the hearing of suo motu case against the former PTV MD, the court comprising of two-member bench has asked to submit ten-year tax record, total salary and perks of Qasmi.

In his remarks, the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar asked who was behind the appointment of Qasmi as PTV MD, at which ex-Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid admitted that had nominated Ataul Haq Qasmi as PTV chairman.

Justice Nisar warned that all expenses incurred by PTV on Qasmi will be recovered from the person who was responsible for hiring him if the appointment is found to be illegal.

Qasmi s lawyer, Ayesha Hamid told the court that her client received Rs1.5m which is not an unreasonable amount for the position, since he didn’t take any money to host the show. Hamid explained the court that her client is being maligned by the reports that claimed he received Rs270 million.

Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Fawad Hasan Fawad told that he never submitted false statement to the court.
