Law Minister Babar Awan was charged with robbery and abduction in the court of Rawalpindi Civil Judge Meher Sarfraz.

Babar is a nominated accuse in a case of abduction and robbery that was registered in 1988. He was not appearing before the court and had filed an application, through his lawyer, to seek exemption from court hearing on grounds of official engagements. However, he appeared before the court today (Saturday) and denied the allegations were leveled against him. The court asked the prosecution lawyer to present evidence against the accused on next hearing, and adjourned the court.
