(Web Desk) – Demanding to be regularised, teachers staged a protest on Burns Road in Karachi following which as many as 40 protesting teachers were taken into custody.
The protest was staged by National Testing Service certified teachers who claimed they had been not regularised for the past 3 years. Teachers staged a sit-in carrying banners and placards demanding that they be offered permanent contracts.
Police cracked down on the protestors snatching banners and taking 40 teachers, including women teachers, into custody. Deputy Commissioner South later held talks with the protesting teachers and assured that by January 19 teachers would be offered permanent contracts and those who had been taken into custody would be released, reported Dunya News.
