Gen Qamar Bajwa lauded Pakistan Army for its sacrifices to ensure peace and prosperity

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa attended the peace car rally and called it a proof of eradication of terrorism as the rally reached South Waziristan.

Addressing to the attendees, he lauded the organisers for depicting a positive and peaceful image of Pakistan. He recalled the sacrifices made by Pakistan Army soldiers for the peace process. Pakistan Motor Rally 2017 was organized by Pakistan Army reached South Waziristan today.

Gen Bajwa called it a reflection of success of Pakistan Army to hold such a program in South Waziristan. “Such events in this region will promote adventure, sports, culture and tourism,” he added.

Planned in four segments, the rally is comprised of over 300 jeeps, 500 bikes and 150 vintage cars, drawn from 23 motor clubs. It kicked off from Khunjrab on October 21 and after passing through Gilgit, Islamabad, South Waziristan Agency, Quetta and Karachi, it is scheduled to culminate at Gwadar on October 31, covering more than 3000 km distance on routes and areas which are relatively less explored and less developed.

Earlier on, COAS had visited PAF airbase in Sargodha where he witnessed military drills in which several nations participated. Saudi Arabia and Turkey also contributed in the air show.

Pakistani Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi was also present to witness the military drills at Air Power Centre for Excellence.
