Knife attacker strikes again, injures girl in Karachi's Joharabad
Alleged suspect Waseem will be first investigated by Punjab police.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – The knife attacks on woman in Karachi have started again after a time span of 10 days as another victim reportedly sustained severe wounds when an unidentified man stabbed her in Joharabad area.
The 15-year-old girl was going with her brother when a biker attacked her with knife. The victim was immediately taken to the hospital for medical assistance.
On the other hand, alleged suspect Waseem, who was arrested from Mandi Bahauddin, will be first investigated by Punjab police then Karachi police will take his remand.
Superintendent in Police investigation (SP) Haidar Raza said that Waseem was taken to Lahore from Sahiwal by Punjab police however, Sindh police will also be reaching Lahore today.
During initial investigation, the suspect denied all the charges and clarified that he is not involved in this crime as he has never been to Karachi. He continued that he has no enmity with any woman.
The security officers said that Waseem was previously caught red handed when he was attacking a woman in Sahiwal so we cannot believe on his statement. Deputy Inspector General East (DIG) Sultan Khawaja said that Waseem is among all other suspicious people whose way of attacking is similar to that of Karachi knife attacker.
Preliminary investigation suggested that the criminal attacked 12 women in ten days within a five-kilometre area.
