Achakzai urges Pakistan, India to free Kashmir

Dunya News

He shared this opinion with BBC.

LAHORE (Daily Dunya)- Known for his vocal opinion, Chief of Pakhtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Mehmood Khan Achakzai has once again garnered limelight by suggesting Islamabad to pull out from Kashmir unilaterally in bid to initiate idea of an independent Kashmir.

He shared these thoughts during an interview with British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

As per Achakzai, Pakistan would be able to make international community realize that country is sincere in solving the festering conflict.

“We remain staunchly firmed on right to self-determination and are hurling allegations against each other whereas poor people continue to die. We have to mend relations with neighbours,” Achakzai told BBC correspondent. “If Pakistan works with sincerity, 60% of issues with Afghanistan will be resolved,” he added.

He said, “Hoping neighbor not to interfere is an act of extreme irrationality. There would be no CPEC without peace”.

While responding to a question on surge in extremism, Achakzai termed arrival of Soviet Union in Afghanistan as its root cause. “Now we should refrain ourselves from such acts,” uttered Pashtun nationalist leader.

“American and Pakistani establishments are well aware of groups they have harboured. Now they should eradicate them otherwise blaze would engulf whole region,” warned Achakzai.

Achakzai urged establishment not to interfere in electoral process and trust the elected ones. “Only cure to Pakistan’s melancholies is that all institutions should be independent and work within constitutional boundaries,” articulated Achakzai.

On a question about unrest in Balochistan, Achakzai said Baloch and Pashtun people were in miserable condition. Achakzai questioned, “Who would spare you to loot themselves? Will they permit you to utilize their treasures? Just make an announcement that natives have first right on resources and the militancy would end immediately. Those who run country like this were ruined.”
