Gen (retd) Raheel Sharif on Lahore visit with Saudi officials
The head of Saudi-led military alliance arrived on special jet for two-day Lahore visit
LAHORE (Daily Dunya) – Former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General (retd) Raheel Sharif has arrived in Lahore on Saturday. He was alongside Saudi officials and landed at Lahore airport on special jet.
The head of Saudi-led military alliance is on a two-day visit to the provincial capital. From airport, he was drove to his Lahore residence via vehicle through old terminal. The aircraft crew and Saudi officials headed towards a private hotel where they will be staying for the rest of the visit.
According to reports, Raheel Sharif only had one suitcase with him. The rank or position of Saudi citizens with him remains unconfirmed.
The ex-COAS had left for Riyadh on April 21 to formally join the 41-country Saudi-led Islamic Military Alliance which aims to fight terrorism.
Despite Defence Minsiter Khawaja Asif’s statement that Raheel Sharif has been granted no objection certificate by the ruling PML-N government, Adviser to the PM on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz clarified that he took the assignment in his personal capacity.
