Separate category for transgenders added to the Pakistani passport
In addition to 'female' and 'male', option 'X' has been added for intersex
(Web Desk) - TransAction Alliance Pakistan announced on Friday that the Government of Pakistan is now issuing the Pakistani passport to the transgender community in a separate category. Along with ‘female’ and ‘male’, another option ‘X’ is now available in the ‘sex’ category of the Pakistani passport. The president of TransAction Alliance, Farzana Jan, is the first amongst the transgender community to carry a transgender identity on her passport.
The reaction on social media has generally been positive so far, with many people congratulation TransAction Alliance and the transgender community on achieving this milestone.
