President Asif Zardari on Monday stressed the need for the utilization of renewable energy resources to meet the power crisis hitting the globe, and urged for steps to control power wastage. Addressing the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2011 at Abu Dhabi, Zardari asserted that the future power needs could only be met with the use of renewable resources such as wind and solar energy. He said that Pakistan is trying to make energy by using water resources. The President said that Pakistan should have an annual GDP of 8% but the rains and flooding hampered the pace of development. President Zardari spoke of his vision to take the country forward and the efforts to put energy deficient Pakistan on sound economic footing. President Zardari will also hold official talks as well as one on one meeting with the UAEs top leaders during his stay in the UAE capital. The engagements of President Zardari will also include meetings with the visiting world leaders among them Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Prime Minister of Portugal and Secretary General United Nations Ban Ki Moon and other important dignitaries. Briefing the media Spokesman to the President Farhatullah Babar said that during the talks with UAE leadership, the President will discuss matters of bilateral interest including the prospects of increased trade and economic and investment cooperation between Pakistan and the UAE.
