Summary Qureshi refused to address Ayaz Sadiq as Speaker citing disbelief in the parliament
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Vice-chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said on Thursday that he is confused whether to address the Speaker of National Assembly (NA) by his name or the honourable designation.
The development came in after Qureshi was addressing a session of the House today.
Qureshi was given an opportunity to respond to Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly, Khurshid Shah as he delivered a speech.
As he began to address the House, Qureshi refused to address Ayaz Sadiq as Speaker citing disbelief in the parliament, following PTI’s stance over General Elections 2013.
Over protest by the members of the government against Qureshi’s refusal, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq instructed them to maintain silence and let the opposition member express his viewpoint.
He further said that dignity was in the hands of the Almighty and a member’s refusal would not devoid him of that. Speaker Sadiq also said that the Constitution of Pakistan gave him the respect.
It should be mentioned here that a session of the assembly was adjourned on Wednesday until today evening over ruckus owing to slogans and protests of the government and the opposition members.
