RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Banners and flexes have been put up in Rawalpindi on Saturday that call for General Raheel Sharif, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) to contest General Elections 2018.

The banners assert that General Sharif should lead the country as the premier as he would win the elections in 2018 if the two-year restriction on office holders is relaxed.

Any office holder is demanded by the Constitution of Pakistan to wait for two years after retirement before contesting any election. The flexes state name of chief of the movement as Sheikh Amjad Ali who is purported to be a spokesperson of Awami Monitoring Cell (Rawalpindi).
