Summary Justice Athar Minallah remarked that the court cannot interfere in the matters of Parliament.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday dismissed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shirin Mazari’s plea filed against Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif for using indecent language in National Assembly session.
During the hearing, Justice Athar Minallah remarked that the court cannot interfere in the matters of Parliament under Article 69 of the constitution.
Shireen Mazari’s lawyer said that it’s a defamation case as the federal minister used abusing language against his client.
Neither National Assembly Speaker launched any action nor PM Nawaz responded on this matter, he added.
In June, Asif during a session of the National Assembly used insulting language and hit the PTI’s Shireen Mazari by calling her a tractor trolley.
The minister had also issued an unconditional apology in which Mazari’s name was not there.
Shireen Mazari sent 100 million defamation notice to defence minister Khawaja Asif and also rejected Khawaja Asif’s written and verbal apology as she demanded him to take her name while apologizing.
She also submitted privilege motion and also wrote a letter to Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq to take action against Khawaja Asif.
