Summary There was no need to extend tenure of General Raheel Sharif as the COAS, said Shah

SUKKUR (Dunya News) – Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly, Khurshid Shah has foreboded on Friday that it would become the third World War if India move ahead with coercive plans against Pakistan.

He addressed the media at his residence in Sukkur of Sindh province and gave his viewpoints on various highlights of the week.

He answered a question about Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s meeting in the war room in New Delhi by saying that not even ten powers similar to India in terms of military, economy and standing could pose a threat to Pakistan.

War would never be in benefit of either of the two, India or Pakistan, he stated.

Shah called for different influential actors in the world to take notice of Kashmir dispute and pressure India to stop depriving the people of Kashmir of their right to determination.

While expanding on the issue, he welcomed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s address to the 71st General Assembly session of the United Nations Organisations earlier this week that highlighted Kashmir dispute and Indian brutality in the valley.

However, he complained that Indian interference on Pakistani soil, namely Balochistan and other parts should also have been mentioned.

The opposition leader also observed after a separate question that there was no need to extend Chief of the Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif’s tenure. He received immense reverence and praise through the course of his service as the army chief, he elaborated.

Before today’s statement over premier UNGA speech, Shah had observed that the address should have been a ‘straight forward’ speech rather than an ‘ordinary’ address.

“Kulbhushan Jadhav is a notorious example of Indian intervention inside Pakistan,” said Khurshid Shah.
