The governor of Punjab Salman Taseer has said that the president could exercise his discretionary power to pardon Asia bbs death sentence under blasphemy laws, Dunya News reported on Saturday. On the other hand Asia bb has handed over her appeal for pardon to the governor during a meeting with him. On this occasion the governor, while talking to the media, said that he would convey Asia bbs appeal to the president. He also expressed hope that the president would pardon Asia bb on humanitarian grounds. The governor further said that Asia bb did not commit the crime for which she has been sentenced to death by the courts and that the sentence is unjust. Salman Taseer said that Asia bb is a poor woman who does not possess enough resources to defend herself. Asia bb said that she is innocent and that she could never even imagine of humiliating the divine books or the Prophets.
