Summary General Raheel discussed the security of the region and that of the CPEC project

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday arrived in the Chinese city of Urumqi on a one day visit and met with the Chinese Chief of Joint Staff General Fang Fenghui of the People’s Liberation Army and Afghan Army Chief Shah Shaheen, reported Dunya News.

Tajikistan’s First Deputy Defence Minister and Chief of General Staff were also present to meet COAS General Raheel Sharif.
In the meeting, it was decided that members of quadrilateral alliance will share intelligence information for regional stability.

ISPR also stated that all four members also agreed to conduct joint military exercised to build capacity against terrorism. The participants of the forum also expressed commitment and determination that all decisions were made with mutual consultation and consensus and agreed to the statement that the very forum was not against any country.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) department, both army chiefs discussed about the mutual relations among the armies of China and Pakistan.

Furthermore, the long-term and multilateral security issues of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project were also brought under discussion during the meeting.

General Raheel also met with the Chinese political leadership in Xinkiang. Bilateral ties between Pakistan and China along with the security of the CPEC project and that of the region overall were discussed in the meeting.

COAS also witnessed the counter-terrorism exercise in the Ku erla (Korla) training base of the People s Liberation Army. General Raheel lauded the talents and skills of the PLA troops.

The army chiefs of Afghanistan and Tajikistan also witnessed the exercises.
