Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that undue criticism is exacerbating the multiple crises that best the government including flood and terrorism. Addressing the Pakistan Development Forum (PDF) session, which he also chaired today, the PM lamented that economy has been severely damaged by the flooding and terrorism, which needs billions of dollars for rehabilitation. The PM claimed that the incumbent government has taken many steps for the rehabilitation of flood-hit areas and people. He called upon the global community to help Pakistan in this regard. I had to take some unpopular decisions in the larger interest of the country, the PM said while referring to many steps that had been severely criticized. Gilani said that Like all other developing nations, Pakistan is also facing multiple problems, adding that, We need tax reforms to surmount them. Referring to the prevailing corruption in the public departments, the Premier said that Public sector reforms are underway. Enlisting the achievements of his government, the Prime Minister asserted We managed to get the 7th NFC Award approved by all the provinces unanimously besides passage of 18th amendment by the National Assembly. After a gap of three years, the two-day meeting of Pakistan Development Forum (PDF) begun in Islamabad on Sunday, with government stressing upon the international community to assist Pakistan for a consistent development. US Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke said earlier, while addressing in PDF, that under Kerry Lugar Bill, America will provide an aid of 500 million dollars for Pakistan.Japan has also announced to provide 273 million dollars for flood rehabilitation.
