Pensioners stranded in long queues at NBP branches ahead of Eid
NBP makes payments worth Rs 7 billion in the form to pensions every month
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Long queues of aged men and women seeking their pensions from various branches of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and post offices were observed on Monday outside a number of main cities of the country ahead of the Eid holidays, reported Dunya News.
Agitated railway workers and pensioners took to the streets in Lahore and also blocked a road in Mughalpura when they faced delay in payments regarding clearance issues persisting in various branches of NBP and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
Pensioners stated that it was challenging for them while they were observing fasts to stand in long queues as it was the last day to receive pensions ahead of the closure of the banks for Eid holidays. They expressed their concerns over the limited number of counters present in the banks.
NBP makes payments worth Rs 7 billion in the form to pensions every month. The bank administration stated that the branches opened at 8 in the morning and will open till 6pm however they will remain open even after six if needed.
