A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heard the case of the alleged corruption in Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM), Dunya News reported on Thursday. The counsel, Fakhrudding G Ibrahim, pleaded the Supreme Court to halt the hearing of the case because Pakistan Steels is facing rupees one billions loss every month.He contended that the investigation has dropped the production to 40 percent. He added that even the Scotland Yard has failed to stop such white-collar crime.Rejecting Fakharuddins request for calling off the investigation, the CJ maintained that Rs 26 billion had been embezzled, The SC took notice of the issue because nobody dared to pursue the case. Chief Justice deplored that FIA, instead of nabbing the true criminal held a watchman and a canteen owner for billions of rupees corruption. The CJ ordered DG FIA to submit a comprehensive report in this regard in the court. The court has been deferred for a month.
