Opposition terms Punjab budget eyewash
Opposition members continuously raised 'lies, lies' slogans, tore apart budget copies
LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Opposition in Punjab Assembly on Monday termed Punjab budget for 2016-17 as an eyewash. The members raised ‘lies, lies’ slogans and tore apart the copies of the budget, reported Dunya News.
Although Punjab government seems proud of its budget for the upcoming fiscal year, the opposition members in the Punjab Assembly termed the budget eyewash and kept thumping the desks during the budget speech by Finance Minister Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha.
Initially the opposition members were only raising slogans against the government but the protest continued to grow aggressive as the speech proceeded. Opposition said that the government could neither achieve the previous budget’s targets nor did they have any hopes in future.
Opposition said that the budget ignored the problems of the common man. They maintained that new taxes were imposed while South Punjab was also ignored.
Speaker tried his best to cool down the opposition but to no avail. The protest continued throughout the budget speech. The opposition announced that the jugglery of words displayed in the budget will be exposed during the budget discussions.
