High Commissioner Abdul Basit barred from attending diplomatic meeting in Nagpur

The ceremony organizers cancelled Abdul Basit's invitation card due to some political reasons.

NAGPUR (Web Desk) – Pakistani High Commissioner in India Abdul Basit was stopped from participating in a diplomatic meeting organized by United Nations in Nagpur, reported on Wednesday.

According to details, the high commissioner was invited as a chief guest but later he was barred from attending the meeting.

The ceremony organizers also cancelled Abdul Basit‘s invitation card due to some unknown political pressures.

On the other hand, a high ranking Pakistani official in high commission said, "This is the fourth time this year our high commissioner has been disinvited from a confirmed event, and we feel very sorry such things are happening. The first incident was at Noida and now Nagpur."

Meanwhile, Rutwik Joshi, secretary of Nagpur mock UN event, said, "There were so me problems related to logistics which could not be resolved. Hence, it was mutually decided that HC Basit will not be coming as the chief guest."

Abdul Basit arrived in Nagpur on June 2 and left on June 4. He also participated in a panel discussion arranged by a media house hosted by local journalists union.
