ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Farhatullah Babar submitted an adjournment motion in the Senate today (Monday) regarding the killing of Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour in an American drone strike and a similar drone attack in Balochistan, reported Dunya News.

PPP has adopted the stance that drone strikes within Pakistan s territory are similar to violation of the red line and that the party is strongly against foreign interventions in the country.

It has also been stated in the motion that the matter became more complex when information regarding the strike was provided before hand to Pakistani authorities, furthermore the outreach of drone attacks to Balochistan has given rise to numerous threats and that the implications of the strike in Balochistan needs to be discussed along with the changing security dynamics of the region.

The submission was made whilst involving other PPP leaders including Nafeesa Shah, Shazia Murree, Naveed Qamar, Ijaz Jakhrani and others. It has been stated that drone attacks in Pakistan are a breach of the country s sovereignty whereas the response given by the Foreign Office regarding the matter is unfitting and disappointing.

Furthermore, it is stated in the motion that Pakistan has quite significance in the group of four countries regarding restoration of peace and stability in Afghanistan. Moreover, it is also believed that the drone strike was conducted without any intimation and that time has arrived to revisit the country s foreign policy along with the security situation on the borders and confidential strategic positioning.
