In lieu of the on-going wave of violence in Karachi, the federal interior ministry has advised the MQM leaders to remain cautious and to restrict their movements, Dunya News reported on Monday. According to sources, the ministry has written letter to Farooq Sattar, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Babar Khan Ghouri, Faisal Sabzwari and Mustafa Kamal to restrict their movements and to remain cautious due to prevailing threats to their lives. Muttahida Quami Movements (MQM) coordination committee has expressed deep concern over the news of threats to its leaders and asked the government to take necessary measures for the security of its leaders. According to the coordination committee, the federal interior minister Rehman Malik himself telephoned Farooq Sattar, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Faisal Sabzwari, Syed Mustafa Kamal and Babar Khan Ghouri to restrict their respective movements and to remain cautious as there are some serious threats to their lives. On the other hand the MQM coordination committee has expressed its deep concern over the news of these threats and demanded fool-proof security for the aforementioned leaders. The committee also urged the government to take an immediate notice of these threats and take necessary steps for the required security.
