LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will stage a sit-in outside Punjab Assembly on May 12 in Panama leaks row, reported Wednesday.

Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has received a lot of flak after his daughter and family members were named in Panama leaks for owning offshore companies for alleged tax evasion.

PTI chief Imran Khan has been demanding the Prime Minister to resign ever since the leaks surfaced. Reportedly, PTI will offer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) and Pakistan People s Party (PPP) to participant in the demonstration.

Different opposition parties endorsed Khan’s demand including PPP, Awami Muslim League (AML) and JI. Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) did not support opposition on resignation demand initially but agreed during a meeting at Leader of the Opposition in Senate Aitzaz Ahsan’s residence.

Different senior members of opposition parties convened two meetings at Aitzaz Ahsan’s house in Islamabad to discuss course-of-action against the government and finalise Terms of References (TORs) for establishment of a judicial commission.

Government had presented its TORs after Prime Minister announced writing to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Anwar Zaheer Jamali to head a commission that would be tasked to probe the leaks against his family and other Pakistanis.

However, the opposition rejected government’s TORs and allegedly excluded a clause pertaining to tax evasion. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) MNA Talal Chaudhry, in an exclusive talk with Dunya News had claimed that opposition excluded a particular clause to save its ‘big fish’ who evaded taxes and got them written off in the past.

The government rejected joint Terms of References (TORs) of the opposition parties.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced holding rallies in different cities as protest against rulers of the country who according to the party have lost moral authority to lead the nation and should resign.

Last two rallies addressed by PTI chairman in Lahore and Peshawar witnessed mismanagement as some culprits treated women participants indecently in one while barricades were broken in the other.

The leader of PTI is scheduled to address a rally in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Bannu today where Prime Minister, accompanied by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman had delivered a rather aggressive speech last week and announced Rs 200 million development package.

Imran Khan has warned of besieging Prime Minister’s residence in Lahore’s Jati Umra if fair investigation into Panama leaks are not conducted. However, the party has cited it as the last option.

It should also be mentioned here that Khan had earlier staged country s longest in duration sit-in at federal capital s D-Chowk in 2014 over alleged rigging by PML-N in General Elections 2013.
