Summary MQM's Kamal Malik has been elected Member of National Assembly defeating PPP's Shahid Hussain
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) bagged easy victories in NA-245 and PS-115 by-elections, Dunya News reported Friday.
MQM managed to secure both National Assembly (NA) and Sindh Assembly seats. However, voter turnout in PS-115 constituency remained extremely low with only 14,739 citizens casting their votes out of registered 1,62000 voters.
According to the details, MQM’s Faisal Rafique was successful in Sindh Assembly’s constituency PS-115, attaining 11,747 votes. Syed Chawla of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) came in second with 1,368 votes. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) candidate attained 1100 votes while MQM Haqiqi s candidate managed to secure 700 votes.
MQM achieved an effortless victory in National Assembly’s constituency NA-245. MQM’s Kamal Malik has been elected Member of National Assembly defeating PPP’s Shahid Hussain.
Meanwhile PTI’s nominee Amjadullah Khan withdrew from the election a few hours before the polling and announced joining MQM during a late night press conference.

Voter turnout in National Assembly’s constituency also remained dismal. The NA seat, having 490655 registered voters was vacant after MQM’s Rehan Hashmi’s resignation.
PPP’s Karachi division president Naqvi Alam had claimed Thursday that Amjadullah visited him a day before polling and offered to withdraw for money in return. PPP’s division president stated that he turned down the offer.
On the other hand, PTI’s Imran Ismail, while adressing a press conference said that Amjadullah was quite disheartened after party’s camp was attacked by workers of a rival party.

However, Amjadullah talked to the media about his sudden withdrawal and cleared that he left PTI without any pressure. He complained that PTI chairman Imran Khan did not contact him once to inquire about the situation or encourage party’s candidate.
MQM s Dr Farooq Sattar also addressed the issue and said that rival parties are trying to sabotage Muttahida s triumph.
