ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday has ordered Sindh government to speed up investigation into illegal recruitments and corruption in police department.
A three-member bench comprising Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Azmat Saeed headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali heard the case.
During the hearing, Justice Amir Hani Muslim stated that we will announce the verdict in open court on Thursday as we are waiting for Sindh government’s reply in the case on which, the Inspector General (IG) requested to hear his pleas first.
The justice remarked that SC has launched inquiry against local government’s steps and advised IG to refrain from involving in the matter.
Justice Amir said that the court will ask from the authorities to answer why they issued notices to Deputy Inspector Generals (DIG) Aftab Pathan and Sana Ullah Abbasi.
He lashed out at IG and added that you have made a committee equivalent to court by dispatching notices to DIGs. He said that it’s a serious matter as Sindh administration has not taken any measurement to stop increasing corruption.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary told the court that the department takes action against the corrupt officials on regular basis but the judge urged to suspend them all.
Subsequently, the hearing was adjourned till tomorrow.
