Summary Court has issued notices to PEMRA chairman and federation to submit written reply within 15 days.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday has admitted the plea against crime dramatization on TV channels.

Chief Justice of LHC Ijaz-ul-Hassan heard the petition filed by Ishtiaq Chaudhry Advocate during which, the plaintiff’s counsel told the court that dramatization of crimes can badly affect children’s minds.

He said that such programs are contradicting Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority’s (PEMRA) rules and regulations as they can boost criminal activities in the metropolis.

The claimant further urged the court to impose ban on re-enactment shows.

Subsequently, the court has issued notices to PEMRA chairman and federation to submit written reply within 15 days.

Earlier, Punjab Assembly had approved the resolution regarding ban on dramatization of crimes and showing them on TV. All the members stood united against the crimes shown on TV channels.

Punjab Assembly had asked federal government to take corrective measures in this context.
