SHEIKHUPURA (Dunya News) – At least two people died while more than 20 sustained injuries as several cars collided due to fog on Motorway near Kala Shah Kaku Interchange today (Tuesday).


The pile-up was blamed on poor visibility caused by a thick layer of smoke emanating from nearby areas, which has killed as many as two people so far.
The witnesses said that the fog had engulfed the entire region due to which road mishap took place.
The motorway stretch has been closed for traffic due to rescue process while seriously injured people are being shifted to DHQ Sheikhupura for medical assistance.


According to motorway police, the drivers were directed to follow precautionary measures as dense fog blanketed the area.
Separately in Hafizabad, 14 students were injured as a van rammed into a truck carrying college students. The incident took place when a degree college bus tried to overtake truck and turned turtle.

The affectees were shifted to district headquarter hospital by rescue team for medical assistance.
On the other hand, a speeding oil tanker hit passenger bus at Multan Road in Vehari. The road accident has taken lives of three women and left 25 injured. The victims were rescued by cutting the body of the bus.
Deadly accidents are common on roads across Pakistan due to bad infrastructure and rampant disregard of traffic laws.
Over 9,000 road accidents are reported to the police every year, killing on average around 5,000 people, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
