ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Perform your duties or face the consequences seems to be the message as Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Director Human Resource (HR) department on Sunday issued a memo warning of action against all those employees on strike against the government’s privatization move.
According to the showcause letter, Compulsory Service Act has been implemented for 6 months and preparations are being finalized to penalize the PIA employees who will be found violation of the Act. Those found in violation may face prison for up to a year as well as fines.
Meanwhile, government has chalked out a strategy to deal with PIA’s protesting employees at the Rawalpindi’s Benazir Bhutto International Airport as Rawalpindi district administration has imposed Section 144 around the airport for 48 hours.
The assembly of four or more people at a time or holding a public meeting or taking out a procession within the jurisdiction of airport has been banned.
The local administration said that Section 144 was imposed as passengers at the airport are facing difficulties due to protests being staged by PIA employees.
