PIA protest: JAC calls on political parties to help solve issue
Govt has no idea how to differentiate between privatization and destructive actions: Farooq Sattar
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Sunday has called on political parties for help and to assist in solving the issue as the PIA’s strike against government’s move for privatization continued on the 6th day. Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has expressed solidarity with the employees on strike.
According to the details, the protest continued at PIA’s head office as a delegation of MQM arrived to express solidarity with the strikers. JAC chairman Sohail Baloch appealed to the party to play role for mediation. Baloch stated that protesting employees will not fail if MQM stands with them.
Addressing the demonstration, senior party leader Dr. Farooq Sattar stated that MQM had come out to save the PIA family. The MQM leader stated that the government has no idea on how to differentiate between privatization and destructive actions.
JAC chairman, in an earlier press conference, had stated that not only PIA but Pakistan will also suffer greatly if their protest movement failed. Baloch stated that they were not begging for negotiations.
Baloch further added that the flight operations had not been restored; the pilots had just been called back forcefully.
In a talk with media earlier, Opposition leader Khursheed Shah has also offered to play a role of mediator between government and PIA workers to end strike and proposed to utilize money of Orange Line Train on PIA.
