LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday summoned report from Punjab government and health department regarding steps taken to prevent swine flu.
According to details, the petitioner’s lawyer adopted the stance that several citizens have fallen prey to the disease whereas dozens are under-treatment in the hospitals.
The petitioner also stated that neither better facilities are being provided nor accurate toll is being told by the government.
The court while accepting the petition for hearing has summoned written explanation from Punjab government and health department on January 27.
More than 15 people have died of swine flu whereas more than 50 have been affected by the disease in the ongoing year.
Swine flu virus mostly attack weaker and less immune people.
In 2009-10, the H1N1 swine flu pandemic spread from central Mexico to 74 other countries including India, killing an estimated 284,000 people, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
More than 2,700 died in India of swine flu between May 2009 and December 2010. Last year, India recorded 218 swine flu-related deaths and 937 cases, down from 2013, when 699 died.
