Summary Men who have committed domestic violence will now be exempt of GPS tracker

LAHORE: (Dunya News) – The special committee of Punjab Assembly has given its recommendations and Government of Punjab has also given its amendments on Women Protection bill on Thursday after which the bill has been finalized. The bill will be presented in the next session of Punjab Assembly for approval.

According to the details, after the new recommendations the perpetrators will not be tagged with Global Positioning System (GPS) tracker on domestic violence. On heinous crimes like acid throwing on women and rape, culprits could be tagged with tracking devices but only on the orders of court.

On the complaint of affected women, the District Protection Officer will be allowed to enter the house but they will not be allowed to break the door. The women affected of domestic violence cannot be expelled from their house. The court can restrain the relevant person to make any contact with the affected women on their complaint in accordance to the proof provided thereof. The relevant person has to stay away from the affected women as far as the court orders according to the circumstances but this will not apply on domestic violence. The person who committed violence can be expelled from the house.

According to the bill, on false complaint of domestic violence the person can be punished of jail up to three months or fined from fifty thousand to one hundred thousand or both. Meanwhile on removing GPS tracker before due date will be punishable to up to one year of jail or fine from fifty thousand to two hundred thousand.
