PM Nawaz launches Pakistan's first ever health program

The programme is aimed at providing quality healthcare to the poor in public and private hospitals.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated Pakistan‘s first ever National Health Progam in Islamabad today (Thursday) to ensure medical treatment for poorest segment of the society.



Federal Ministers Ishaq Dar, Khurram Dastagir, Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar, Minister of State for Interior Baleeghur Rehman, Minister for CADD Dr. Tariq Fazal and Maryam Nawaz Sharif were present in the event.

The programme is aimed at providing quality healthcare to the poor in public and private hospitals. Initially the programme is being started in 15 districts of the country and 1.2 million card holder families will get this facility in the first phase.



Under the programme health care cards will be issued to the beneficiaries on which they will get free medical treatment of seven diseases. 

Before the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister was given detailed briefing about the programme.
