Rangers' power extension: CM Sindh reaches Islamabad to meet PM
CM Sindh says federation cannot reject resolution passed by Sindh Assembly according to Article-147.
ISLAMABBAD (Dunya News) – Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah reached Islamabad Tuesday to meet Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif to discuss the issue of extension in special powers granted to the Rangers as the fate of the law enforcement agency’s extension and the Karachi operation still remains unclear. PM Nawaz is expected to discuss the issue with CM Sindh at the breakfast table 9:00 AM Wednesday.
The meeting will also include Minister for Interior Chaudhary Nisar and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. On the other hand, CM Sindh will be accompanied by Sindh’s Interior Minister Sohail Anwar Sayyal and Provincial Minister for Finance Murad Ali Shah.
PM Nawaz had earlier on Monday invited CM Sindh to visit Islamabad to discuss the issue at hand. CM Sindh decided to accept the invitation.
Before leaving for the Federal capital, CM Sindh had chaired a high level meeting in Karachi to discuss the issue of Rangers’ powers in Sindh. Qaim Ali Shah said that the provinces have every right to give powers to a federal institution on their own conditions. He stated that the federation cannot reject the resolution passed by Sindh Assembly according to the Article-147.

It was also decided in the meeting that the federal government should be asked to pay nine billion rupees as Sindh government has spent 19 billion rupees on rangers from last two years.
