Summary Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has tripled the assistance package for heirs of deceased govt employees.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has approved the revised Assistance Package for Government employees, who die in service, w.e.f 9th February, 2015.

As per details, the federal government has approved 300% increase over the package-2006 for in service death of civilian employees. Heirs of scale 1-4 government workers will receive lump sum grant of Rs600,000, 5-10 Rs900,000, 11-15 Rs1,200,000, 16-17 Rs1,500,000, 18-19 Rs2,400,000 and Rs3,000,000 will be given to the families of grade 20 & above employees.

In security related deaths, financial assistance of Rs3 million will be given to the families of grade 1-16 officials, grade 17 Rs5 million, grade 18-19 Rs9 million and grade 20 & above Rs10 million.

Moreover, Rs700,000 will be given to the officers incapacitated and released from service for having become invalid as a result of injury in encounters, bomb blasts, riots, watch and ward duty or terrorist activity whereas Rs500,000 has been approved for the officials incapacitated as who continue their service despite any injury. 

The Prime Minister has also approved 100% increase in pension to the families of deceased government servants as per their length of service and last pay drawn. In case of less than 10 years service of the deceased employees, rate of minimum 10 years service will be applicable.

The children of deceased government employees up until higher education will benefit from free education under this assistance package. The expenses will cover all tuition fees, books, study material and also living allowance.

Concerned departments have been given guidelines regarding timely filing of assistance cases and streamlining pension procedure and payments.
