MIANWALI/THATTA (Dunya News) – Chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto have held rallies in Mianwali and Thatta apiece over second phase of local bodies elections in Punjab and Sindh.

The political parties have geared up the preparations for second phase of LB polls in Punjab and Sindh as PTI held rally in Mianwali while PPP chairman led public gathering to Thatta.

According to details, PTI finalized all the preparations at the venue in Musa Khel whereas the enraged PTI supporters had also decided to protest against the rally.

On the other hand, Bilawal will address the party workers in Sajawal while on boarding the same truck on which Benazir Bhutto travelled on October 18.

In Punjab, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, M.B Din, Attock and Jhelum will face electoral process.

In Sindh, District Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Hyderabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Shaheed Benazirabad, Naushehra, Feroz, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot and Tharparker will hold polls in second phase.
According to details, the elections would be held on November 19.

As many as 14,685,822 voters have been registered in Punjab while about 22,691,022 locals would exercise voting right in Sindh. The both female and male voters would participate in the polling.

Moreover, at least 11,906 polling stations have been directed to be formed in this regard.

The two other provinces, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the northwest and Balochistan in the west, voted earlier this year. The PTI won in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in May but the PML-N and its allies came out on top in Balochistan in January.

Local bodies, in which voters elect councilors directly, devolve administrative and financial powers to lower tiers of electoral bodies.


LB polls phase 1


The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has won the majority of seats in Punjab and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has secured most seats in Sindh in the local government elections, according to unofficial results.

The local polls, the first in 10 years, were held on Saturday in the twelve districts including Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Chakwal, Bhakkar, Nankana Sahib, Kasur, Pakpattan, Okara, Lodhran, Vehari and Bahawalnagar of central province of Punjab and eight districts including Sukkur, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Ghotki, Larkana, Shahdadkot and Jacobabad of the southern province of Sindh.
