Summary The residents messed up as many as 5600 plants planted on 836 acres of government land.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN (Dunya News) – Enraged locals on Thursday spoiled the ongoing plantation drive, Billion Tree Tsunami launched by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan in Dera Ismail Khan.

According to initial details, the residents crushed as many as 5600 plants which were planted on 836 acres of government land in D.I. Khan’s Dhap Chabak area. According to Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), some people showed rage by messing up the land but they cannot disrupt the whole campaign.

He said that the provincial government will not sit idle but will take stern action against the culprits. He stated that the police officers have been directed to ensure the detention of suspects as early as possible.

Meanwhile, the locals stated that the land being used for the campaign is disputed and was ealier used for derby.

Earlier on Wednesday, renowned superstar Fawad Khan visited Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Peshawar in support of Imran Khan s tree plantation drive, Billion Tree Tsunami.

A tree planting ceremony was held at the hospital in which students of various schools participated.

The actor alongwith his wife Sadaf and son attended the ceremony and planted trees with the students.

"I have been participating in the fundraising campaigns for Shaukat Khanum Hospital since my childhood. I take great pride in giving back to the community and offer my support for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Peshawar," he said at the event.
