Summary PTI, JI formally announced their alliance; leaders say they aim to free Karachi

KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat Islami (JI) have on Friday announced to have struck an electoral alliance for the upcoming local body elections in Karachi. Leaders of the two parties said that they aim to free Karachi and strive for peace, development and prosperity of the citizens, reported Dunya News.

Holding a press conference in Karachi today, JI and PTI leaders announced alliance for the local body elections. JI Karachi head Hafiz Naeem ur-Rehman said that agreement on 85% of the seats has already been reached and the remaining will soon be agreed upon too.

PTI Karachi President Ali Zaidi said that PTI and JI will not be contesting each other on 98% of the seats in Karachi. “There can be differences in the ideologies of the two parties but both want to serve Karachi and its people”, said Zaidi.

Leaders of both the parties feared that the polls will be rigged if not held under army and Rangers’ supervision. “There is no vote cast under police’s supervision. There is just rigging under them”, they said.
