Summary Ashton Carter commended Pakistan's efforts in fight against terrorism.
WASHINGTON (Dunya News) - Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Friday visited Pentagon at the invitation of US Secretary of Defence Ashton Carter.
Matters relating to regional peace and security were discussed during the meeting.
PM Nawaz expressed satisfaction over the growing defence cooperation between Pakistan and the United States. He appreciated US cooperation in capacity building of Pakistan in countering terrorism.
Ashton Carter commended Pakistan s efforts in fight against terrorism. He said Pakistan is playing a leading role in the war on terror.
The US Defence Secretary lauded Pakistan s efforts in bringing consensus on fighting terrorism. He also acknowledged Pakistan s role in peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan.
PM Nawaz also signed the guest book at the Pentagon.
Earlier, President Barack Obama welcomed PM Nawaz in White House with fresh promises to strengthen relationship with Pakistan.

In a joint statement issued after a two-hour long meeting between the two leaders at White House in Washington, Nawaz Sharif and Barak Obama said that a resilient Pak-US partnership is vital for regional and global peace and security.
The leaders discussed the importance of continued cooperation against terrorists and violent extremist groups.
