Raging waters from the Indus River continued to inundate more villages and towns across the country. After causing havoc in Jacobabad the flood waters forced thousands of people climbed onto rooftops to save their lives as in Dera Allah Yar.Authorities are trying to evacuate or warn people in Rujhan Jamali, Nasirabad, and Usta Mohammad. The railway track in Shikarpur has been broken to save the city. The road link between Punjab and Balochistan has been suspended. The situation was critical in Jacobabad, Jaffarabad and Dera Allah Yar as water from breaches in canals and protective embankments poured into the area. The authorities breached an embankment to save Jacobabad, after which floodwater entered Balochistan.The Jacobabad city has been evacuated, while Jaffarabad has been cut off from Sindh and Punjab. Floodwaters covered a portion of the railway track near Dera Allah Yar, suspending railway traffic. Around 500,000 to 700,000 people have been affected by the floods in Dera Allah Yar.According to reports, the deluge has entered the residential areas of Dera Allah Yar, prompting people to climb onto their rooftops. A large number of people fled to neighboring districts of Naseerabad and Sibi. The flood victims of Jacobabad, Thal, Kandhkot, Kashmore, Ghouspur and Karumpur are also camping in Dera Allah Yar. The gushing water also inundated Jamali Bypass and Sindh-Balochistan National Highway, cutting off ground links of Balochistan from the rest of Sindh and Punjab.Torrential rains, floods and land sliding brought widespread destruction to Gilgit-Baltistan. At least 146 people have been killed so far while several others have been injured. 52 people of district Diamir while 53 from Ghizar and 46 from Skardu have lost their lives due to the floods. Another 13 from Ghanche also lost their lives during the torrential rains and floods. At least 86,000 people lost their homes due to land sliding and floods in the area. The infrastructure in the area has been badly damaged.People in Gilgit-Baltistan are facing acute shortage of food, clean drinking water and medicine. The stocks of petroleum reserves are depleting fast. Electricity to the area has been cut off for the past three weeks and authorities are facing great difficulties in getting through to the worst affected areas.As many as 18 bridges on the Karakoram Highway have been washed away by the floods. FWO and the Pak Army are busy with the relief and rescue operations.As many as four children lost their lives due to starvation in the district Kohistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Due to heavy torrential rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last nineteen days most of the road-links in the province have been badly damaged. Acute shortage of food was reported from the areas of Shangla and Kohistan since all the roads leading to the districts have been damaged.The deaths of children were reported from the area of Kundia valley. The district coordination officer has also confirmed the causalities. The road links of Kohistan and Shangla have not been restored for the last nineteen days and people remain stranded in the area waiting for governments help.
