Summary Nawaz says promise of eliminating load shedding getting fulfilled, says power crisis biggest problem

JHANG: (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has on Friday vowed to eliminate load shedding and terrorism from Pakistan. He said that power crisis is the biggest problem in the country and he can now see it getting fulfilled, reported Dunya News.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of 1230 MW power plant in Haveli Bahadur Shah, Nawaz Sharif said that it won’t be an unimportant achievement if the power crisis gets solved by 2018. He said that power projects are being started in large numbers and all of them are under rapid progress. “Some people say the government hasn’t delivered at all. I ask them, what exactly do they mean by deliverance? If this is not deliverance then what is?” questioned the PM.

Nawaz said that load shedding issue started during Pervez Musharraf’s era but it is the current Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) government that is fighting this crisis. He said that measures against terrorism and for revival of the economy should have been taken long ago but nobody attended to these issues. “It wasn’t easy to restore trade and business in Karachi but the government worked hard and it were the positive steps taken by this government that this daunting challenge was defeated”, he added.

“Karachi is fast turning into a peaceful city and terrorism will be completely eliminated in the days to come”, said Nawaz.

PM further said that rapid progress on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is underway and the government is trying hard to create a culture of development in the country. He said that it took 2 years to collect the funds for the current development projects but now it is working.

“The pipeline project is in progress. It is going to cost around 110 billion rupees and the agreement in this regard has been signed with Russia”, told the PM. He said that LNG projects will collectively help save Rs. 571 billion.

Criticizing the political opponents, Nawaz Sharif said that the restoration of Prime Minister Kisan Package is the victory of the farmers. “Those trying to malign us will continue to do so but we will keep moving towards our destination”, said the PM.

CM Shahbaz Sharif addresses the ceremony

Addressing the ceremony, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif said that the transparency in energy projects in Pakistan can be heard even in the Middle East. “All the projects are being set up in half prices compared to the past and we saved Rs. 110 billion of the national exchequer in the energy projects”, said CM Punjab. He said that it is the duty of NEPRA to provide electricity at lower price.
