The Karachi City Police have declared 300 worship places across the city as sensitive and beefed up security in their vicinities during the holy month of Ramazan due to the threats of terrorism and sectarian violence. A high-level meeting of police and Rangers officials headed by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Wasim Ahmed was held in Karachi. The CCPO informed that strict security measures were being taken during Ramazan and security had been placed on a high alert at mosques, imambargahs and 300 points of Taraveeh congregations.Crime Investigation Department (CID) Operations SSP Fayyaz Khan said that there was threat of terrorism in the city, and law enforcement and intelligence agencies had taken measures to prevent any untoward incident. One of the main reasons behind sectarian violence in Ramazan is the dispute over collection of donations, he said.
