Ambassador of the United States to Pakistan Anne W.Paterson has said that US has pledged $ 35 million for the flood-affected people of the country and Pakistani people will better understand the inmportance of dams. While talking to media after addressing the members of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) in Islamabad at Chamber office, she said that her country has already released $ 90 million to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and $ 180 million to the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). She said that Pakistan had issued visas to 700 US marines who were assisting and evacuating the flood affected people by using Chinook helicopters. US would continue helping the flood victims, she added.
