Summary Meeting PM Nawaz, Ban Ki Moon said UN will play role in ending hostilities between Pakistan, India
NEW YORK: (Dunya News) – Secretary General United Nations (UN) Ban Ki Moon met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Sunday and said that UN will play its role in ending the hostilities between Pakistan and India. Nawaz Sharif asked the UN Secretary General to ensure implementation of UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir, reported Dunya News.
The meeting was held between PM Nawaz and Ban Ki Moon and was attended by Advisor to PM on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi and Pakistan’s envoy to UN Dr. Maleeha Lodhi. PM informed Moon on the Line of Control (LOC) violations by India and asked him to play his role for ending hostilities between the two countries. Expressing concern over the hostilities, Ban Ki Moon said that the UN is ready to play its role to end the hostilities. He urged Pakistan and India to resolve issues through talks.
PM Nawaz demanded implementation of UNSC resolutions on Kashmir on this occasion so that Kashmiris can be given their right of self-determination.
Moreover, Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan wants a strong relation with Afghanistan and is ready to play its role in Afghan peace process. He said that elimination of terrorism is Pakistan’s top priority. Ban Ki Moon said that Pakistan is playing a great role in peace missions across the globe.
