Summary Pakistan has written to UN Security Council expressing severe reservations

NEW YORK (Dunya News) – Pakistan has strongly protested against and expressed reservations on Indian move of building a wall on the Line of Control (LoC) between India and Pakistan, Dunya News reported.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to United Nations (UN) Maleeha Lodhi on Thursday filed two correspondences in the UN protesting against and expressing severe reservations over India building a wall on the Line of Control, a temporary ceasefire line, along the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir occupied by India.

The wall is at least 197 kilometer long, 10 meter high and 135 feet wide. Ms Lodhi made it clear that the only acceptable solution of the Kashmir conflict to Pakistan is through the UN resolutions and a plebiscite by Kashmiris.

She said that as per the UN resolutions, no party can alter the current territorial position and despite the resolution barring the move, India is going ahead with the plan to build a massive and illegal wall.

Ms Lodhi told exclusively to Dunya News’ Chief Security Correspondent Wajahat Saeed Khan that tension in the region has risen in the past few months. She told that India has repeatedly violated the ceasefire in multiple events of heavy firing.

She said that United Nations’ Security Council president has been informed in writing on the violations from the Indian side.

Ms Lodhi said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) will be of historic importance.

She said this will be the busiest trip of PM Nawaz during which he will speak at five different events. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to address the UNGA on September 30th.
