Summary National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had arrested Qasim on August 8 on fraud charges.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Qasim Zia was released today (Wednesday) from Lahore camp jail after submission of Rs100,000 surety bond against the bail.

The move came after a two-member bench of Lahore High Court accepted the bail plea of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Qasim Zia and directed to release him.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had arrested Qasim on August 8 on the charges of being one of the accused in a fraud case of worth Rs100 million.

As per NAB, the accused was arrested on allegations of cheating public at large, misappropriation, and embezzlement of funds and criminal breach of trust.

Qasim Zia allegedly sold fraudulent shares of which he is one of the directors, NAB added.

The PPP leader submitted a petition in LHC stating that he will return the owed amount voluntarily.

NAB officials asked him to return Rs2 crore and two lac on which he agreed.

His lawyer told the court that the case is under investigation therefore; the bail plea should be accepted.
