Summary Heat wave continues in Karachi, one more dies of heatstroke; death toll in 2 days has reached 4
KARACHI: (Dunya News) – 1 more has lost his battle with the heat in Karachi and died due to excessive heat, taking the death toll to 4 in last 2 days, reported Dunya News.
Heat wave in Karachi continued on Sunday and the temperature went as high as 42 degrees centigrade. Heatstroke patients kept visiting the hospitals all day long and 4 doctors including an MS were suspended for their absence from duty.
Due to the extreme temperature, emergency has been declared for heatstroke patients in all the hospitals but the government staff is still displaying its traditional laxity. Taking notice of the absence of doctors, Commissioner Karachi suspended 4 doctors including the MS.
Patients were brought in big numbers to the heatstroke centers set up in the hospitals throughout the day. Met Office says that there is no chance of decrease in temperature in the city during the next 24 hours.
