Summary Chairman Moon-sighting committee says 1st Zil-Hajj to be on September 15, Eid on September 25

KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Chairman Moon-sighting committee Mufti Muneeb ur-Rehman has on Monday announced that Zil-Hajj moon has not been sighted today and Eid-ul-Azha will now be celebrated on September 25, reported Dunya News.

Moon-sighting committee’s session was held today in Karachi under the headship of Mufti Muneeb ur-Rehman in which scholars belonging to all schools of thought and astronomy experts participated. Moreover, zonal committee’s sessions were held in other cities including Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar but no testimony of moon-sighting was received from any part of the country. Zonal committee thus informed the central moon-sighting committee afterwards that no testimony was received.

Holding a press conference in Karachi, Mufti Muneeb announced that the Zil-Hajj moon was not sighted and therefore, 1st Zil-Hajj in Pakistan will be observed on September 15 and the Eid will be celebrated on September 25.
